Meet Anne, Sales Consultant at Royles Lodge, Thornton-Cleveleys

Even before you choose to move into one of our luxury retirement villages, when you are at the start of your journey looking at retirement flats for sale chances are, the first person you will meet when you visit our retirement apartments, is Anne.

Anne is our Royles Lodge, Sales Consult and she is passionate about helping individuals and couples find their dream apartment whilst listening and understanding their needs and wants.

We spoke to her about her experience in the property industry and found out a little bit more about her.

Tell us a bit about yourself, what did you do before you came to Royles Lodge?

With extensive experience as operational director in elderly care, I was looking for a career change and jumped at the opportunity to join Burghley Retirement. My role is Sales Consultant, but in essence I see myself as a facilitator, bringing my personality, humour, and life experiences to support our potential clients to navigate the move to independent living at Royles Lodge.

A Dublin girl originally, I have lived in the UK for nearly 35 years. Since moving to Lancashire, I have embraced the beauty of the landscape, walking & hiking most weekends. Interests are varied; a rugby supporter (green jerseys!), hunt racing, property & interiors, gardening, art, my two grown up boys and of course there is nothing better than a good country pub!

What is the most frequently asked question about Royles Lodge?

People tend to focus on the practical questions – how many apartments have been sold, pricing, service charge costs etc. It’s important to provide key information and answer these questions. During visits brochures and information sheets often contain lots of additional jotted down notes.

I endeavour to connect with what sparked each individual’s interest in retirement living and try to bring to life what Royles Lodge can offer. Encourage people to take a step back from the details and visualise the reality of fewer responsibilities, the peace of mind of living in a safe secure environment within a ready-made community.

What is your favourite part of the Royles Lodge development?

The communal lounge definitely! The interior designer has done a fantastic job – it’s a comfortable stylish space that all enjoy. Cosy for just a few residents to come together for a cuppa and ideal for larger social gatherings. It’s a delight to see the friendships developing and residents coming together. I love the inclusive welcome that is extended to all.

What are your top tips for moving into an over 55s apartment?

Goodness so many tips I could give.

Timing of this type of move is key, there is definitely a window; the start of a look to the future and ideally before the idea of a move becomes overwhelming.

Break down the decisions and actions. Take one step at a time, from the initial selection and reservation of an apartment right through to the logistics of the actual move. Downsizing is the biggest stumbling block, it’s important not to lose sight of the lifestyle vision. Easy for me to say as I see the vision on daily basis. Our apartments seem to adapt to the personal stamp of each resident and beautiful homes have been created. All agree that it’s the best decision they have ever made.

What is your favourite place to spend time in Thornton-Cleveleys?

Currently the little boutique in Marsh Mill village behind the development and the M&S food hall in Cleveleys. I’m looking forward to exploring more as the lighter evenings arrive. What jumps out is the community activities on the doorstep, the library hosts regular events, there are choirs and many local bowls clubs. A resident suggested searching ‘Visit Fylde Coast’ on YouTube – that’s my next task.
